Cookies for First Communion

Two years ago I made these cookies for my son's class as they were celebrating their first communion.

It was such a special day at school. The kids got ONE day off from wearing their uniforms and they wore their first communion finery...boys in suits and ties, girls in sweet dresses and veils. ♥

The kids loved their communion cookies...seeing their faces was the best part of making them. :) The chalice was gold with edible luster dust. I was really excited to even find the cookie cutter...you can get one here.

  5. Too too sweet! It seems like yesterday my son was posing in his First Communion finery, and now he's finishing grade 9. I just loved that age. Well, I love pretty much all the ages up until these teenage years! They're killing me!

I bet the look on the kids faces were priceless when they saw those cookies. Very awesome.

  11. Your cookies are beautiful! I had a bad experience with royal icing tasting bad so I used to decorate my cookies by piping stars with buttercream. Seeing your cookies makes me want to give royal a try again. I'll be making first communion goodies next year, how time flies!

  12. Oh, my, GOODNESS! Your first communion cookies and all saints cookies are TO DIE FOR! I don't have kids that will be making their first communion anymore, but I may start baking these cookies every year for church anyhow!!

You are a VERY talented baker. So glad to have found your blog.

  13. What sugar cookie or cookie recipe do you use for the chalice cookies. I am having trouble keeping them stable (or not breaking) around the middle of the chalice.
