Desserts for Dudes: That's Some Pig!

Cuts of meat: the only way to make a pink, decorated cookie look manly.

When I saw this cookie cutter on etsy, I knew I must have it.  (I bought the cow, too.)

I toyed with the idea of baking up a chocolate-bacon cut-out cookie, but I really wanted these to be pink.  For the pink, you can either tint your cookie dough pink with food coloring, or use a pink dough.  I used some leftover watermelon cookie dough, but I will say, it's a little disconcerting eating a watermelon-flavored pig.

The cookie cutter really does all of the decorating work for you.  The imprints are nice and deep and remain throughout baking.

When cutting, though, some of the smaller sections wanted to stick in the cookie cutter.  I nudged them out with a chopstick.  You can see a little of it here...

...I think it's ok, though.

To decorate, I used a #3 tip and white royal icing.

  3. This was the perfect way to decorate these cookies for your Desserts for Dudes! Great little cutter.

P.S. That chocolate bacon cut-out cookie sounds lovely too and I bet if you bake them the dudes in your house won't mind at all that the pig isn't pink. Sooiet!!

  4. For some reason I'm not able to see your pictures on your blog anymore. I even tried opening it on various platforms, IE, Google Chrome, etc. with no luck. I'm sad because I love seeing your cute cookies and maybe I'm not the only person having this issue, so I thought I'd let you know. Maybe it's just my machine or something, but I thought I'd put it out there. :)

    1. Oh gosh, Heidi! I'm sorry about that! It sounds like your firewall settings. My pictures are hosted at a different web address and I bet it's blocking uploads from other sites.

I hope maybe a tweak of your settings would let you see them again. It's no fun without the pictures!!!

  9. Hahaha - this is super cute. Although, is it just me, or is it a little macabre, in a Victorian gothic kind of way? Who knows, I'm probably alone in that.

  19. What awesome cutters (including the cow)! Love this cookie. How great these would be for kids in 4-H, unless it is an unwanted reminder about what's up next for their livestock;)
