What is your indispensable, essential, can't-do-without baking tool?I thought about this question for quite some time. First, I thought this:
Then, my silicone spatulas...
But when it comes down to it, I would never make cookies without this:
Parchment Paper! I have gone to the grocery store at 10pm sent my husband to the grocery store at 10pm on a parchment run in a cookie making emergency.
So, go ahead and tell me...what's your can't-live-without baking tool?

I love my kitchen aid and my cookie scoop.
ReplyDeleteI love my Kitchen Aid, and would never started baking COOKIES without my Silpats... =)
ReplyDeleteSILPAT MAT!!! No doubt. I would stop baking if I didn't have that.
ReplyDeleteI love my Kitchen Aid, but I also LOVE my Pampered Chef spatulas. I probably have six and I manage to dirty them all whenever I'm baking.
ReplyDeleteI've considered getting a silpat. One of these days...
I love my kitchen aid but I couldn't cook a cake without my 30+ year old Wilton Cake Pans that look almost brand new!!
ReplyDeleteI love parchment too (and my red Kitchen Aid mixer!), but when I'm doing large quantity baking, I treat myself to the precut parchment that fits a half sheet pan. Comes 100 sheets to the roll, and saves a huge amount of time.
ReplyDeleteI would never give up my half whisks (also known as sauce whisks.) If you've never seen one they look like a flat ballon whisk. Great for beating things but no "cage" to trap the things you are beating.
ReplyDeleteWhen I saw your question parchment paper was the first thing that came to mind. How hillarious.
ReplyDeleteMine is a baking stone - no need for parchment paper!
ReplyDeleteI would say my big yellow mixing bowls. When I was a kid, my Mom had a yellow pyrex bowl, and I thought cookies could only be made in yellow bowls. LOL So, my Mom got me a few (plastic ones) when I got married. I love those things. (Though I now mostly make cookies in my Kitchen Aid!)
ReplyDeleteI really like my restaurant quality baking sheets. They do not warp, twist, fold, or anything. They are fabulous.
ReplyDeleteExtra measuring cups. I think I have three sets of dry cups and couldn't make it through a holiday or any other large baking session without them.
ReplyDeleteI would have to say my number one is the KitchenAid. I tell my husband every time I use it that it is the SINGLE best gift he has ever given me. The close second has to be my cookie scoop! Another wonderful gift from hubby; I found it in my stocking last year and it gets used often!
ReplyDeleteI love my KitchenAid (which I just got last week) and have to have the parchment paper!
ReplyDeleteI do have to say that Parchment paper is my savior too, but LOVE my Cuisinart and Kitchen Aid as well.
ReplyDeleteOh I have SO many! First, my Kitchen Aid mixer! Even hubs loves it and he's one mean baking dude! Then my P-Chef spatulas, my P-Chef food chopper (like iron that thing!), and I think, most ESPECIALLY, my heavy duty kitchen shears! Those suckers cut through anything! Love them!!
ReplyDeleteI love my Kitchen Aid mixer and my pizza stone. Naturally there are lots more, but those are my top two.
ReplyDeleteCookie scoops - I have three.
ReplyDeleteAnd my stoneware pans from Pampered Chef. LOVE them and use them for just about everything.
Same thing for me...but with the addition of my Pampered Chef springform pan...can't make cheesecakes without it!
ReplyDeleteIt's more expensive but in a pinch you can use aluminium foil! I've actually had to use it to line my cake pans...it worked like a charm, too!
ReplyDeleteI have these two really large glass bowls that are wonderful for mixing. One is larger and deeper than the stand mixer's bowl & the other one is easily twice as wide as the stand mixer's bowl. I use and LOVE my cuisinart hand held mixer.

I adore kitchen gadgets and tools, so this is a tuffy. I have to say I love my Pampered Chef baking stones and the small scoop, perfect for making cookies!
ReplyDeleteI love Pampered Chef (I used to sell it) and I must say I love my medium scoop and my round baking stones.
ReplyDeleteMy mixer is a 50+ year old Sunbeam stand mixer that was my great aunt's. It's still going strong, like she is!
I love my airbake cookie sheet. I've never burned a cookie on it. Then my cookie scoop would come in second.
ReplyDeleteOk the pictures are back! And oh my!! The chicks and the baskets are ADORABLE! I love the sanding sugar on the chicks.
ReplyDeleteMy can't live w/o is my Kitchen Aid Ice cream maker and it's trusty companion the Ben & Jerry's cookbook! Does that count as a baking tool???
I think I would have to go with my Silpat---and everything else mentioned is a close second! I love kitchen tools.
ReplyDeleteI have so many goodies & gadgets in the kitchen, but I have to say that for baking my can't life without it tool is a chopstick. I keep it in my flour bin and use it to quickly tap and level off the tops of my measuring cups. ;)
ReplyDeleteKitchen Aid and parchment paper hands down! But I also love my food processor for quick mixing up of muffins. I make entirely too many muffins. I eat entirely too many muffins!
ReplyDeleteI agree about parchment paper. Once you start baking with it you can never go back.
ReplyDeleteNow on parchment paper, I can agree with wholeheartedly.
ReplyDeleteIt's much easier if you can find the reams of flat parchment. In Boston there was a cash and carry place that sold wholesale to the public, very convenient!
My Kitchen Aid, for sure. I even had a custom shelf built for it inside the cupboard so I wouldn't have to lift it from the pantry to the counter, or leave it out on the counter. When I want to use it, I just lift up the shelf (it's on a spring lever) and it locks into place. Sweeeeet!
