Cookies for the World Changers...

World Changers. You meet one and you know it.

My friend Kristen is one of those people. Kristen of the blog, We are THAT Family...and of Mercy House Global and of Fair Trade Friday. I dare you to watch this video with dry eyes. World Changer.

Kristen is hosting a retreat for non-profit leaders this weekend and I made some cookies.

What you will notice about these cookies is that World Geography is not my strong suit.

I started with this fun globe cookie cutter from SemiSweet Mike. If you love decorating cookies, I hope you know Mike. His work is amazing.

I love making flowers ahead of time. They can dry and then get placed on the cookies later. Here I make toothpick roses using a 101s tip and some swirly roses using a small closed star tip. While I was at it, I made some leaves, too. Leave all of these to dry at room temperature for a day or two.

To make World Changer Globe cookies, you'll need:
Make the flowers and leaves using the instructions for toothpick roses and then making a small swirl for the circle roses with the star tip. Leave the flowers to dry on waxed paper.

Use #2 tips to outline the sections of the globe in green and blue.

Reserving some of the piping consistency icing, thin the icings with water, a bit at a time, stirring with a silicone spatula, until it is the consistency of a thick syrup. You'll want to drop a "ribbon" of icing back into the bowl and have it disappear in a count of "one thousand one, one thousand two." Four is too thick, one is too thin. Count of 2-3 is good.

Cover with a damp dishcloth and let sit for several minutes. Stir gently with a silicone spatula to pop and large air bubbles that have formed. Pour into squeeze bottles.

Pour into a squeeze bottle and flood the outline, using a toothpick to guide to edges and pop large air bubbles.

Use a #3 tip to pipe the top of the globe stand and outline the base.

Flood the outline with thinned icing as stated above.

Let the cookies dry uncovered 6-8 hours, or overnight.

Once dry, use a food coloring pen to add the wording.

Use piping consistency icing to attach flowers and leaves.

Distribute to the world changers in your life. ♥
