For this week's Trader Joe's review, kiddo and I tackle Trader Joe's Dark Chocolate Cookie Butter Cups.
No description on the package, but they're pretty self-explanatory...Trader Joe's Cookie Butter enveloped in dark chocolate, mini peanut butter cup style. An 11-ounce tub of cups costs $4.99.
A mom's (my) take: Before biting into one of these, you really have to wrap your mind around the fact that they are NOT peanut butter cups. I see that shape and think, "peanut butter." As a matter of fact, Mr. E ate one and proclaimed, "these are weird." I'm 99% sure it was the "cup factor." I didn't find these weird at all...I found them pretty yummy. The chocolate is dark and luscious and the cup is filled with spicy and flavorful cookie butter. The ratio of chocolate to cookie butter is spot on...you get a nice dose of each. If you're a fan of cookie butter and a fan of dark chocolate, you might want to keep some of these on hand at all times.
Overall rating: 4 of 5 stars
A teenager's (kiddo's) take: You can call me crazy, but I don't really enjoy cookie butter in large/concentrated quantities. Don't get me wrong, cookie butter is good, but when I encounter a whole bunch in the same place, it doesn't particularly strike my fancy. On a brighter note, I find the chocolate very good! My final verdict is that if you have a serious sweet tooth, these are for you; if you don't like too much sweet, however, I'd stay away...
