This is as close as I'll ever come to quilting . . .

Blogging has been such a wonderful experience. I've met so many amazing people...even if I've never actually met them in real life.

One of those people is Sheri Howard. Sheri is a quilter and author of quilting books (here's a link to her first one...so cute!). She asked if I could make cookies for the editor of her second book, Not Your Grandmother's Quilt.

{Here it is...aren't those quilts pretty?!? See that one in the lower right corner? We decided to do a simple square based on that for the cookies.}

I really enjoyed making these quilt square cookies. My mom was a quilter...so is my sister, my aunt, my cousins.

I love that even though my mom is gone, we have these "pieces" of her in quilts. Something tangible, something to hold on to, something to pass down to our children. A lot of time and LOVE goes into quilts.

I think my mom would have liked these cookies. And I know she would have loved Sheri's books.

That pop of turquoise with the light blue dots is my favorite part. I can just imagine how pretty a quilt must be in these colors!

Congratulations, Sheri, on your new book! I think I may need one for more quilted cookie inspiration!

I'll be linking these up to TidyMom's I'm Lovin' It party!

  3. These are superb and your Mom would have loved them. Both my sister and I quilt and I just made her some "quilted" cookies to take when I visit her this weekend. Yours are awesome Bridget and the book will be a great Christmas/Birthday gift for my sis.
    I got the inspiration for my cookies from the Crazie Cookies's blog. She is just as talented as you are.

  10. I am new to your blog and I have to say that I absolutely LOVE it! I have always wanted to know how to make pretty cookies. I tried your vanilla-almond sugar cookie recipe just this morning and they turned out great! I used royal icing to decorate them and they turned out beautiful-at least they are beautiful to me for being my first attempt. Thank you for your blog! Your quilt cookies today are just too much! Way too cute! I am going to try to make some when I get a little bit better at decorating.

  18. Wow these are fabulous. I think I'll have to bake some for my mother's (she's a mad keen quilter) upcoming birthday and hope they survive the postage to Australia.

  20. haha!! It's so funny that you did these! I was just saying to my husband today that I needed to sketch out some quilt block cookies. My mom is a professional (and semi-famous I might add) quilter. Has her own business. She's been begging me to send her cookies and I was just about to sit down and sketch some when I opened up to your post! How funny is that?
